Bowen Case Studies
Here are some typical cases that I have successfully treated using Bowen
Technique:
KNEE PROBLEM
Lady aged 76
H. was recommended to me by a friend of hers who came to see me for a knee
problem. H. had a knee problem after falling on the ice over a year ago, she had
tried other treatments but she still had swelling and painful knees. H. had 4
treatments and was thrilled she could do her square dancing again.
PELVIC TILT (leg length imbalance)
Lady aged 59
C. came to have a Bowen
treatment for sciatica. She had been in severe pain and through the consultation
C. told me that she kept tripping up. On observation her left pelvic girdle was
approx. 2 inches shorter than her right side. After 4 treatments C's. pelvis was
level and her sciatica had gone, also her posture improved. C. still comes for a
monthly Bowen treatment because she enjoys the relaxation and feels energised.
M.E. (Myalgic encephalomyelitis)
Young girl 13 years
P's mother was having
treatment with me for groin pain and pelvic imbalance when she told me her
daughter had had M.E. for 2 years and had missed a lot of schooling. P. came
with her mother and I gave her 3 treatments over a 4 week period. Her energy
returned, she went back to full time education and has been enjoying good health
since April 1998.
ASTHMA
Baby 1 year old
L. was having aromatherapy
with me and told me her baby was having respiratory problems and was under the
G.P. L was constantly rushing baby Sam to the hospital as she would panic about
his breathing (understandable). I asked L. to bring Sam along and that I would
give him a Bowen treatment to see what happened. I gave Sam 4 neonate asthma
treatments and he has only had to have Ventolin once, while abroad on holiday.
CARPAL TUNNEL
Gentleman aged 65
B. came to see me in
November 1998 with carpal tunnel. He had it in both hands and found it difficult
to hold a knife and fork for any length of time. He couldn't ride his motorbike
because he couldn't grip the handlebars. B. had had this problem for 3 years,
slowly getting worse. B. had an operation booked for January 1999 but although
he wanted better use of his hands he didn't really want to go through with an
operation. B. decided to try Bowen as an alternative. B. had 2 weekly treatments
and I saw him 1 month later. The result was wonderful, he could put his small
finger and thumb together and had the strength in them to resist tension. When
B. went for his pre-op, he told them about the treatment and needless to say B.
didn't need surgery.
FROZEN SHOULDER
Lady aged 41
B. came to see me with a
right frozen shoulder which she had had for 3 months, movement was 65%. She was
a therapist herself and was finding it increasingly difficult to work. I gave B.
1 treatment and the result was 100% perfect, she was thrilled with the results
and is now thinking of becoming a Bowen therapist herself.
INFERTILITY
Lady aged 38
M. decided to give Bowen a
try as she had had 7 I.V.F. treatments, I can't say unsuccessfully because she
became pregnant after the second I.V.F. treatment but sadly miscarried. 1 gave
M. 9 treatments over a 3 month period and she fell pregnant soon after having a
rest from Bowen - natural breaks are an important part of the treatment to give
the body time to reset itself. M. now has a healthy baby boy,
born February 1999 weighing 8lb 5oz.
T.M.J. CLICKING JAW
Lady aged 43
F. found her clicking jaw
an embarrassment when she ate out and asked me if Bowen would help. I gave F. 1
treatment and to her surprise her jaw stopped clicking. As far as I know it
hasn't returned. Sometimes a TMJ splint will be recommended for long term jaw
problems. This can be purchased from me.
TENNIS ELBOW
Gentleman aged 32
R. came to see me for a
tennis elbow problem he had had for 5 months. He had tried other treatments but
decided to give Bowen a go. I gave R. 3 treatments and his elbow improved
greatly, he came back for another treatment 1 month later and his elbow isn't
giving him any pain now.
