The Bowen TechniqueBowen technique may help with many conditions. For example:
Some injuries can be resolved after just one or two treatments. It is most unusual for more than four treatments to be required. To find out more, read through my case studies. What is Bowen Technique?Bowen Technique is a unique light-touch therapy from Australia. It may well be one of the single most important tools we have to facilitate healing of the whole body. Essentially, it resets the body to heal itself through a precise and comprehensive set of very gentle moves, mostly involving light pressure followed by a rolling motion. The moves are carried out in certain combinations and on different parts of the body, allowing me to address the body as a whole, or to target a specific problem. There are frequent and essential pauses between sequences of moves, allowing the body to respond to each set and reset itself at the cellular level. During your treatment I can feel where your body is particularly suffering tension, as a result of physical or mental stress. The Bowen Technique moves then allow me to release that tension and restore your body to a more healthy state. One powerful result of a Bowen treatment is to balance and stimulate energy flows. The result, for you, is a deep sense of overall relaxation - some clients fall asleep! The restorative, self-healing process begins once the body is relaxed and can continue for days or weeks after treatment. Healing seems to be achieved through the body's autonomic nervous system, which creates homeostasis at the cellular level. By treating the body as a whole, integrated unit, Bowen Technique can pull together and facilitate physical, chemical, emotional and mental changes. Bowen Technique is a 'complementary' modality, which means it will enhance and work synergistically with other medical attention. However, if you are also having other manipulative therapies such as physiotherapy or chiropractic, it is advisable to leave several days, preferably a week, between your Bowen treatment and any other manipulative therapy. Bowen is suitable for adults, children and babies. It is gentle enough to be used when you are in pain and for those who are frail, elderly or unwell. However, it is was originally developed to treat tough outback farmers in a single session, so its effects can be surprisingly powerful. Sports injuries have been effectively treated with Bowen and it has also been shown to facilitate improvement in a wide range of physical, mental and emotional conditions. The integrated body response triggered by Bowen can improve
circulation, stimulate lymphatic and venous drainage and can help the body
assimilate nutrients and eliminate toxins. |
